The soul of the city can be found along Bergenline Avenue, a bustling commercial strip where many of the area s residents come to shop, dine and meet up with old friends. Just across John Fitzgerald Kennedy Boulevard, in North Bergen, another mall offers big-box stores, an LA Fitness gym, a ShopRite and a multiplex movie theater, while the many restaurants of Hoboken and Jersey City are within walking distance or a short cab or jitney ride away.

Despite its compact size, Union City boasts a number of parks, three with water features, including Firefighter s Memorial Park on Palisade Avenue, which has an Olympic-size pool. The NJ Transit 123 buses make five stops in Union City, with travel times of between 10 and 30 minutes to the Port Authority in New York.

Other options include traveling to Hoboken or Jersey City to catch the PATH train; taking an eight-minute ferry from Weehawken to 39th Street; or taking a seven-minute ferry from Hoboken to Wall Street.
